The Oxford Branch of the United Nations Association was constituted on the 27th day of November 1945 and has since continued to exist under rules as to constitution and conduct of business agreed by all members from time to time but not hitherto recorded in writing. It is now considered that a written constitution should be adopted by which the existence and conduct of the Branch should in future be regulated.
It is therefore resolved that the rules and constitution annexed shall be adopted as the Constitution of the Oxford Branch of the United Nations Association with effect from the 4th day of June 1957.
All officers and members of the Branch Committee elected or appointed under the practice hitherto obtaining shall be deemed to have been appointed properly by the said Branch and all acts done by or under the authority of the said Officer, Branch Committee are ratified by this General Meeting and all resolutions passed by the Branch Committee and recorded in the Minutes are ratified and all property formerly vested in the said Branch shall henceforth vest in the Branch as now constituted.

Alterations of Constitution
The objects of the Branch are those laid down in the objects and rules of the U.N.A. (hereinafter called The Association).
The Branch through its Committee shall be responsible for promoting the objects of the Association in accordance with the Rules of the Association and the Southern Regional Council.
Members of the Branch shall be all members of the Association resident in the Oxford area or paying their subscription through the Oxford Branch.
The Officers of the Branch shall be the President, the Chairman, the Vice-Chairmen, the Hon. Treasurer, the Hon. Secretary and such Vice-Presidents or other officers as may be elected by the Annual General Meeting. Casual vacancies shall be filled by the Committee.
The Branch shall be managed by a Committee consisting of the Branch Officers and one representative of each corporate member, appointed by that corporate member, and not more than twenty individual members elected by the Branch at the Annual General Meeting and not more than five individual members co-opted by the Branch Committee, all co-opted members to hold office until the Annual General Meeting following their acceptance of membership of the Branch Committee. The Committee shall meet not less than three times a year. Five shall constitute a quorum. The business of the Branch shall be conducted by the officers with the aid of any members they call on to assist. The Committee shall decide policy and finance.
The Annual General Meeting shall be held before the end of November every year and shall be called by at least ten days notice in writing to each member. At this meeting shall be elected or re-elected the Officers, the Committee and the Auditor. Nominations shall be made not less than six clear days before the Annual General Meeting, the candidate’s willingness to serve if elected having previously been secured.
The Committee may, and at the request in writing of twenty members shall, summon a Special General Meeting on giving at least seven days notice. The nature of the special business shall be stated in the notice calling the meeting.
The Branch shall be financed by monies received from the Branch’s share of membership subscriptions, from donations specially allocated to the Branch and from such money-raising functions as shall from time to time be arranged. The financial year shall end on the 30th June in each year. In accordance with that Rule of the Association which states that “all income of the Association and of its Branches derived from donations, subscriptions or other sources shall be entirely devoted to the work of the Association”, none of the Branch’s income, capital or property shall be expended or used except in furtherance of the work of the Branch or of the Association as a whole.
An Annual Report and audited Accounts shall be adopted by the Branch Committee, sent to the Regional Office before the 30th September in each year and presented at the Annual General Meeting.
The Constitution of the Branch shall be altered only at a General Meeting of the members and by a majority of at least two-thirds of those present and voting.
